Celebrating Environmentally Conscious Lingerie Brands
Posted on April 24 2018
With recent Earth Day celebrations that took place worldwide in over 190 countries, we thought it was the perfect time to highlight the work being done in the lingerie industry to support environmental protection and promote sustainability.
Lille prides itself on scouring the industry in search of the best environmentally minded brands, so we'd like to highlight a few of the favorites carried in the shop right now.
First up is one of our biggest sellers, Only Hearts. Manufactured in New York City, Only Hearts focuses on using local, deadstock, and certified Made in Green textiles. We recently restocked the Eco Lace Collection in which the lace is made from recycled materials. These pieces score bonus points for extremely flattering designs!
Another shop favorite, Underprotection, has been practicing environmental awareness by using sustainable fabrics produced in their certified and locally owned factory in India. They have certifications from The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), PETA vegan approved, OEKO-TEX, and the Fear Wear Foundation.
In production, they use a variety of materials ranging from organic cotton, recycled polyester, lyocell, and recycled wool. Apparently, they even use milk in some of their material! According to their website, "Milk fiber textile is made from sour milk from the dairy industry. The protein is extracted from the milk and made into a soft and shiny fiber that can be spun and used as fabric."
Underprotection is definitely a great option for someone looking for a set that will make them feel beautiful and environmentally conscious. The new Heather Collection is an amazing collection that we just received in the shop that perfectly embodies Underprotection's ability to create gorgeous and flattering pieces with eco-friendly tools.
When it comes to comfort and everyday basics, Skin has you covered. Excelling in the realm of all things organic cotton, Skin provides beautiful and well-made loungewear, panties, bras, and even swimwear. The Lola panties, made from 100% pima cotton, come in a variety of styles including thong, boyshort, and bikini. The sustainability factor will pull you in but the insane comfort will keep you coming back for more.
We give thanks to all of these brands who are doing what they can to lower their carbon footprint and bring more organic fibers to the lingerie industry.
