Halloween Inspiration: Barbarella
Posted on October 22 2012

If you haven't seen Jane Fonda in the campy cult classic, "Barbarella," you're missing out. Here is a brief synopsis from IMDB:
"After an in-flight anti-gravity striptease (masked by the film's opening titles), Barbarella, a 41st century astronaut, lands on the planet Lythion and sets out to find the evil Durand Durand in the city of Sogo, where a new sin is invented every hour. There, she encounters such objects as the Excessive Machine, a genuine sex organ on which an accomplished artist of the keyboard, Durand Durand, can drive a victim to death by pleasure, a lesbian queen who, in her dream chamber, can make her fantasies take form, and a group of ladies smoking a giant hookah which, via a poor victim struggling in its glass globe, dispenses the Essence of Man."It's practically a sexploitation flick, but the costumes are fabulous, and you will definitely win points with any sci-fi nerd whose favor you happen to be seeking. Obviously, flashy lingerie is the foundation of this look, so start with either the Glitter Mesh Bralette, Curvate Bra, or Metallic Longline on top. If you're feeling ambitious, you can build a chain-mail or paillette crop top to go over this layer. For the bottom, you can go with the Glitter Mesh Bikini, Emilie Peeking Bikini, or Metallic Ruched-Back Hipster. The sparkly Incroyable Tights by Gerbe and the latex Tara Necklace by OGJM would be perfect add-ons. A flesh-colored unitard would be a great investment for modest types, and it will keep you warm, to boot. Speaking of boots, the Vesta Cutaway Heels have the perfect sex-kitten meets futuristic-space-adventuress aesthetic, though the metallic Exito Oxfords would be a more practical option. Just don't be offended when someone calls you, "My Pretty-Pretty." You are in your underwear, after all!
