Halloween Inspiration: Moonrise Kingdom
Posted on October 20 2012
One of our favorite movies of the year was Wes Anderson's moving and entertaining love letter to adolescence and imagination, "Moonrise Kingdom." I watched it again last night, and it was every bit as delightful upon a second viewing. We're sure there will be a few Suzy Bishops and Sam Shakuskys wandering around at hipster house parties this Halloween! It's a sweet, endearing character reference and not at all hard to accomplish, even if it's the last minute. You'll need some colorful eyeshadow, a pair of binoculars, a Mod dress or gingham ensemble, Sheer Striped Over-the-Knee Socks, perfect for folding over, and Saddle Shoes. Bonus points for shiny bug earrings, a raspberry beret, and a kitten in a picnic basket. The entire Petit Bateau Fall '12 Collection hits the mark for all of your gingham requirements, whether you opt for the 3/4 Sleeve T-Shirt with a white collar and cuffs, the Cotton Gingham Cami, Gingham Henley or just the Brief. The added bonus of selecting an item from this durable cotton group is the infinite wearability it will afford you throughout the Fall season and beyond. And speaking of briefs, you can always skip the dress and reenact our favorite scene—dancing on the beach in skivvies to Le Temps de L'Amour—with either the Antonia Cotton Bralette, Ten Cotton Bralette, or Cotton Dot Mini Bralette and Organic Cotton Bloomer, Mia Panty or Love the One You're with Bikini (so apropos!) Props will help to set the scene, so pack your favorite vintage suitcase with Francoise Hardy albums, a compass, love letters, maps and vintage books. By the way, have you seen the sweet animated shorts Wes Anderson created as a supplementary treat to the film? Adorable!
