Macadamia Threads Handmade Brim Caps

Just in time for the sub-zero temperatures, we received some cozy crocheted caps from local designer Teija Liisa of Macadamia Threads. The hats are handmade here in Portland (and also Uganda) from soft cotton yarn with cute accents like antique buttons on the brim, lending a vintage feel to their style. Even more amazing is the story behind the hats... many of them are made in Uganda, and a portion of the profits from every sale goes towards starting a poultry farm. Pictured below is designer Rose Nankinga with her daughter Mary Frances. Rose hopes that by making these beautiful crocheted hats, she will be able to raise enough money to send her to school when she's old enough.
