The Classic Trench
Posted on December 13 2007
Stylish, timeless and iconic, a trench coat can be a girl's best friend, especially when it's as elegant as the "Opportunity" trench by The Lake and Stars. Made of a water-resistant cotton twill in a perfect shade of beige, or more charmingly, "Oyster", it will keep you dry in the rain and warm all year round. The cut is traditional, but inspired, with interesting details like a silky contrasting vintage lining in baby blue with navy ships.
A staple in any classic girl's wardrobe since the 70s, the military-inspired trench coat has actually been around for over 100 years. Stars like Audrey Hepburn, Marlene Dietrich and Greta Garbo all owned the style, infusing it with a sense of mystique and sophistication that lingers to this day, in spite of its ubiquity. (Paris Hilton is sure to own a metallic or patent leather one, though that doesn't fit my definition of "class.")
You may be wondering why a lingerie store is carrying coats...this is about as close to "Fantasy Lingerie" as Lille will ever get in its approach. Slip this one on over your Divorcée bralette and bikini, and surprise your boyfriend at his apartment door - trust me, he'll not turn you away!
